Mr. Petterson was appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on May 1, 2017, by the Board of Directors. Mr. Petterson most recently has served as a private consultant to clients in the Oil & Gas sector and served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Executive Vice President at Chicago Bridge and Iron (CB&I) from 2009 to 2013. Mr. Simonelli was named Senior Vice President in February 2009. Mr. Simonelli is responsible for the Operations Support Group which includes Site Management, the Safety Health & Environmental Department, Field & Production Engineering and Risk Management. He was named a Vice President of the Company in 2002 and Special Projects Manager in 1996. He joined the Company in 1978 as a Project Engineer. Mr. Simonelli earned a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Rhode Island. He is a member of the Hydrographic Society, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Western Dredging Association.
Mr. Shea was named President of Environmental Operations in November 2015. He has over 25 years of experience in global engineering, environmental services and construction management services. Prior to joining Great Lakes, Mr. Shea was at CH2M Hill, Inc., a global environmental and engineering consulting services firm, where he was most recently President of the Environmental and Nuclear Business Group. Prior to his nine year tenure at CH2M Hill, Mr. Shea was employed by Envirocon, Inc. as Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Planning. Mr. Shea started his career at Waste Management (formerly Chemical Waste Management) in 1986. He received a BS in Chemistry from the University of Arizona.
Mrs. LaVoy was appointed Vice President and General Counsel, Dredging Operations in July 2012. She joined the Company in 2007 as Assistant General Counsel. Mrs. LaVoy received her J.D. cum laude from Northwestern University School of Law and was an associate in the litigation department of the Chicago law firm Winston & Strawn LLP following graduation. Mrs. LaVoy earned a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. She is a fourth generation dredger.
Mr. Johnson was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 2013. He had served as Senior Vice President since 2009. Previously, he held the position of Vice President and Chief Contract Manager of the Company since 2006. He joined the Company in 1983 as a Mechanical Engineer and has since held positions of increasing responsibility in domestic and international engineering and operations, including Area Engineer, Special Projects Manager, and Manager of Production Engineering. Mr. Johnson was named Vice President in 2002. Mr. Johnson earned a BS in Engineering from Purdue University and an MS in Construction Engineering & Management from Stanford University.
Mr. Auernhamer was named Vice President and Area Manager, Gulf Coast in 2012. He started with Great Lakes in 1990 as a Field Engineer after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Michigan Technological University. He was promoted to Hydraulic Division Engineer in 1999, and a Project Sponsor in 2006 and Area Manager, Gulf Coast in 2011.
Mr. Becker has managed the Equipment Maintenance and Mechanical Engineering Departments since 1995. He joined the Company in 1984 as a Field Engineer and holds a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois.
Mr. Bisal was named Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer in 2013. From 2004 until joining Great Lakes, Mr. Bisal was with Walmart Stores, Inc. in various positions, with the most recent being the Vice President and General Counsel of International. Before joining Walmart, Mr. Bisal was with two law firms, a partner at Hale & Dorr and an associate at Buchanan Ingersoll. Mr. Bisal received both his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and J.D. from Rutgers University.
Annette Cyr joined Great Lakes in January 2018 as Vice President of Human Resources. Ms. Cyr oversees all aspects of Human Resources ensuring the company’s talent management strategy and resulting practices support and promote the business’ long-term growth. She also serves on the Executive Leadership Team and support the Compensation Committee. Ms. Cyr has over twenty-five years of human resources experience with both public and private companies. Throughout her career, her key focus areas have included mergers and acquisitions, leadership and talent development, and the implementation of global processes and systems. Ms. Cyr has a Master’s degree in Personnel and Employment Relations and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History, both from the University of South Carolina.
Mr. Gillespie was named Vice President and Special Projects Manager in 1997. He joined the Company in 1987 as a Project Engineer and previously served as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Mr. Gillespie earned a BS in Civil Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a graduate degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Tulane. He is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers.
Mr. LaMourie was promoted to Vice President, Hopper Dredge Division in 2013. Previously, he served Great Lakes as Hopper Dredge Manager, Senior Production Engineer and Project Sponsor. Mr. LaMourie brings over 25 years of experience within the dredging industry. He has earned a bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan.
Mr. Morrison was promoted to Vice President and Area Manager, South in 2012. He began his career with Great Lakes in 1989 as a Field Engineer and was quickly promoted to Project Superintendent and Operations Manager in the Hopper Division. Mr. Morrison became a Division Engineer in 2000, and a Project Sponsor in 2006 and Area Manager, South in 2011. Since 2011 he has been the Area Manager for the South region and will continue with that position in addition to his role as Vice President. Mr. Morrison graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management.
Mrs. O'Halloran was appointed to her position of Vice President, Corporate Controller in 2013. She previously served as Treasurer of the Company since 2011 and also held the role of Director of Investor Relations and Financial Reporting since joining the Company in 2006. Prior to Great Lakes Mrs. O'Halloran was Director of Corporate Accounting at TransUnion, LLC. Mrs. O'Halloran is a Certified Public Accountant and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from Northern Illinois University and a M.B.A in Finance from St. Xavier University in Chicago.
Mr. O'Brien was named a vice president of the company several years after he assumed leadership of the Middle East Division. There he has inaugurated and completed several large joint venture projects in Bahrain and Qatar, one of which is the largest in the company's history. He joined the company in 1979 as a rangeman on a field survey team, and soon rose to be a project and area engineer. In 1990 he was named manager of the Midwest Division in Cleveland. Since 1996 he has had management responsibilities in the Middle East. He received his BA degree in journalism from the University of Rhode Island in 1978.
Mr. O'Hara has been a Vice President and Division Manager of the Company since 1988. He joined the Company in 1978 as Cost Accountant. He is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers. Mr. O'Hara received a BS from the University of Illinois.
Mr. Roberts was named Vice President in 2011 having managed the Field Engineering Department since 1996. He joined the Company in 1989 as a Field Engineer Intern and within Field Engineering roles worked on Company projects throughout the US and Middle East. He holds a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Murray State University and completing Master of Business Administration from Lewis University. He is a member of American Congress on Surveying and Mapping.
Mr. Strahley has more than 30 years of experience in the environmental remediation industry, including ten years at Rocky Mountain Arsenal (RMA) where he directly managed eight projects totaling more than $80 million in value. He is responsible for all operational aspects of Great Lakes Environmental and Infrastructure Solutions, as well as assisting the president in the development and execution of the long-term strategy and growth of the company.
Previously, Mr. Strahley was with Envirocon, Inc. as Director of Remediation Services where he was responsible for overall safety, profitability and success of the service line including both operations, estimation and business development. Prior to Envirocon, Mr. Strahley was at Ferguson Harbour Inc. where he was the Vice President of Operations. He received his BA in Business Administration from Bluffton University.
Mr. Zimmerman was named Vice President and Special Projects Manager in 2009. He joined the company in 1982 as a Field Engineer. Mr. Zimmerman earned a BS in Construction Management Technology from Purdue University. His is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers and the Western Dredging Association.
